Track 14: Follow your Road

Track 14: Follow your Road-music and lyrics by Bob Wilson, I first heard this song performed at a jazz festival held at Disneyland in the early 80s by Angela Bofill.  Her performance was magnificent and I fell in love with the song's powerful message.  I later discovered that it was written by Bob Wilson, whose wife Pauline snag it in their band Seawind.  You'll see that when I cover a song I resist singing it the way it has been performed before.  To me, there is already a definitive version of the song done that way, so I like to explore what other ways it can be expressed to bring a fresh perspective.  I also think it avoids comparisons a bit more.  I heard a playful wanderer in the lyrics and thought it would be fun to try a buoyant tempo and treatment.

Track 14: Follow your Road

With so many roads that seem to lead down to the sea

I wonder which road will be the right one for me

Others may fall away

Dead-ending left and right

But there is this one road

that journeys far out of sight...

Have you wondered where your road will lead you?

Maybe to a bright day of sunshine

or a starry night in heaven

or it might be you're afraid to go

afraid to go

But you've got to Follow Your Road

or you'll never know

never know

Chorus

You've gotta Follow Your Road

Follow Your Road

Follow Your Road

You've gotta Follow Your Road

Follow Your Road

Follow Your Road

You've gotta Follow Your Road

Follow Your Road

Follow Your Road

and maybe someday

your road will take you far away...

far away

We are all but travelers

Livin' in a foreign land'

just tryin' to find our way

best as we can

lookin' for an answer

and tryin' to find some love

and though we have journeyed far

you know it's not quite far enough

Have you wondered where your road will lead you?

Maybe to a song that needs singin'

 or a summer rain

or it might be you're afraid to go...

afraid to go

But you've gotta Follow Your Road

Or you'll never know...

never know

Chorus

Chorus
