Lyrics

Wake Up!-featuring Marianne Williamson, Most of the recording of Marianne Williamson here was taken from her New Year's Ever lecture at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills as we entered 2012. The lecture was streamed live all over the world and she was on fire that night. I supplemented that message with soundbites from many of her other lectures and interviews over the years. Marianne serves on the board of Results.org and is deeply committed to bringing an end to world hunger, which we absolutely could do if we wanted to badly enough. Fairly easily. It is truly time for each of us to step it up "or the earth won't make it." 10% of online sales of my album during the first month will be donated to Results.org in honor of Marianne's work and in gratitude for her allowing me to weave her material into my songs.

In the Bible it says Adam fell asleep
and nowhere does it say that he woke up
oh

So, the Adam state
which is the consciousness of the human race
is asleep, and in our sleep state
where we have fallen asleep to who we truly are
dreams, and even nightmares have come
17,000 children every single day
that's one every four seconds-
starve on this planet
oh

rehearsal is over
and this is it

Wake up
Wake up, please
Wake up
Wake up

This is not about who's special
or who is not special
Don't sleep
This is simply about the fact that it's time
look all around, it's desperate times

People down on their knees
beggin' for love
Love gave the answer
it's you and me
not a second to lose
it's time to wake up

Even among the heyenas
the female heyenas
the adults encircle the cubs while they are feeding
and won't let the adult male heyenas
get anywhere near the food until the cubs have been fed
Surely we can do better than the heyenas

This world, A Course in Miracles says
cannot be what it needs to be
without you being who you, in your heart
most want to be
Every where that you walk
you will fill the room with love
You will be called to do things that are startling
You will called to assume within yourself
unusual powers
You will be called to assume within yourself
an unusually powerful voice.
You will be called to assume within yourself
a creative destiny

that is larger than perhaps you, yourself
have allowed yourself to imagine
For God has more faith in us
than we have in ourselves
And in order for humanity to evolve right now
in a way that transcends the otherwise limited
and even perilous consequences of our own history
is if you and I,
and all those who feel so called
now stand forth and say
in a way that perhaps
we have never said before, "I am willing”

We are no longer stymied by such childish games
as, "I'm not ready yet"
We will not be stymied by such childish games
as, "I still have to get myself together first"
We will not be stymied by such games
as, "It hurts too much"
or, "I'm too old"
or, "I'm too young"
or ,"I don't have the right resume"
or, "they will not let me"
but, rather, we take responsibility
for such thought forms
as nothing other than our own procrastination
at a time when humanity and the earth itself
can no longer indulge such narcissism
and procrastination
on the part of any of us

It's time
look all around, it's desperate times
People down on their knees
beggin' for love
Love gave the answer
it's you and me
not a second to lose
it's time to wake up
In the midst of the darkest night
act as if morning has already come
"Don't wake up in the morning"
A Course in Miracles says,
"And buy what the world has to tell you
what's possible for you
because in God ALL things are possible."

Wake up
Wake up, please
No more women behaving like girls
or the earth won't make it
Wake up
Wake up
Don't sleep
No more men behaving like boys
or the earth won't make it

na na na na na na na na na na
na na na na na na na

We deepen the sincerity
by which we wake up every morning
"Where would you have me go?
What would you have me do?
What would you have me say
and to whom?"
